This impressive project is the result of a partnership between the innovative design studio The Urban Conga, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), and, most importantly, the dedicated residents of the Morris Houses. Empowering Residents through Participatory Design
The Urban Conga employed a workshop series utilizing playful methodologies to involve residents in the design process, creating a secure environment for sharing their aspirations and narratives. This collaborative approach ensured that the final design truly reflected the community's unique identity. The revitalized site is strategically divided into three interconnected zones: a social area, an active play zone, and a fantasy play space, each designed to cater to varying needs.
